Gender Reveal Party

The day we found out the sex, we had a party. It was something that fit very well for the parent's announcing it, an ice cream social. We invited our families and my best friend (let's be honest, she is family) to come over. Yep, I kept another big secret for SIX HOURS. My mom tried hard to get it out of me. I had to cut of communication.

We had everyone over and they took a vote and wore a pin. We had them make their own ice cream sundaes and passed out sprinkle shakers. At the same time, everyone poured their shakers on the ice cream and of course they were blue! My poor mother couldn't open her's and started freaking out until Holly yelled it out for her. She cried, my dad cried. I always cry. It was perfect. Because my mom was yelling, little Riley didn't hear what we were having! She came up to me and said "Manda, Grandma was yelling too loud. Are you having a boy or a girl?" I told her we were having a boy and all she said was "YAY! I PICKED RIGHT!" It was an absolute blast.

The setup. Ultrasound photos, the pins, sprinkle shakers.

They thought it was a girl! Even Dids in the corner. The Hubs knew, but we were playing up the Daddy's Princess, Mommy's Slugger side.

Apparently, everyone thought it was a boy!

Holly and Shannon celebrating.

My Mama burying herself to cry.

My Dad happy as can be. He gets to be a little league coach!

My first baby, Kay, hugging me.

Blue sprinkles!

  1. Congrats on your baby boy! I am planning a similar gender reveal party and I LOVE the sprinkles idea. Wondering where you got the little sprinkle containers though. Did you paint them pink/blue yourself? THanks!

    1. I used these... http://www.amazon.com/Martha-Stewart-Crafts-Glitter-Multipack/dp/B002BTWI62/ref=sr_1_7?s=arts-crafts&ie=UTF8&qid=1365867735&sr=1-7&keywords=martha+stewart

Then I got spray paint and went to town! It was an annoying process. I will warn you, if someone turns them upside down and lets the sprinkles go down to the lid, they can see them. I gave strict instructions and didn't even let anyone touch them!
